Shadow

I see my shadow on the snow

Softly blanketing the sidewalk

No footmarks yet seen ahead

The shadow changes form long and short

As I walk under the light of the street lamps

The shadow bumps into the alongside wall

But it keeps quiet

It runs through the bush fencing along the sidewalk

But it does so silently

The sidewalk undulates up and down

And so goes obediently the shadow

It’s my alter ego
