Yes, I did. I was a little boy then, but the desire to live was as big as that of a grown up. I was then evacuate from Tokyo because of the war to a little village in NE Japan. Little food could be sent to us. I also caught frogs to eat.
It’s terrible what humans do to each other. War, as the saying goes, is not healthy for living things. I’m so happy you survived. I can’t imagine the stories you could tell.
Thanks for sharing the haiku as well as the personal anecdote. It stirred a couple memories which may become haiku’s. It seems that you are stronger for your experiences.
