  1. And the trees have probably lived and remained calm – a lovely image – through several wars.

      Thank you. Yes, it’s through several wars. The shrine I often talk about on this blog is more than130 years old. More than 1 million of the war dead are enshrined there. Visits by government officials there are under fire of harsh criticisms from neighboring countries because some of those classified as war criminals by the Tokyo Tribunal are also enshrined there.
